Grove of Poplar Trees
When I worked as a finish carpenter we installed a lot of poplar. It was less expensive than pine and it holds paint better than almost any wood. It is very absorbent...and hard and tough.
The trees are popular with Los Angeles developers because they grow tall quickly. They make excellent wind breaks and provide shade for houses and yards from the hot California sun. In a few years a brand new development can look "well established".
